I've heard Allan Taylor before and he is a dynamic speaker with insightful and practical ideas and suggestions. Where do I begin on how awful this book is and my advice is to save your money and pass on purchasing it. The way the book builds up a system on how to run a church Sunday school but never touches down with any real world application, And the system the book is setting forth has no biblical foundation for it.

Step by step method for learning to play the saxophone

Over the years many thousands of saxophone players, great and small, have learned to play using this book. The book is a comprehensive guide to playing the saxophone. It begins with how to put a saxophone together and how to play your first note and ends with some very sophisticated excercises. Anyone who begins on page one and follows the excercises through to the last page will be a proficient musician. If you just want to learn a couple of tunes to impress your friends, this may not be the right book for you. If you, however, really want to learn to play the saxophone, this is the only book.

This is a great method book that takes you from absolute beginners to moderately advanced levels. Great for someone who is really willing to put in the extra time and effort. This isn't a book to just flip through. It is really worth taking the time to get into this book and truly study the art of playing the sax.

Times change and so should this book

Some interesting exercises and etudes. However the book is very dated. This book has not changed since 1929. I have an original 1929 version and the new book is an exact copy. The saxophone has evolved since 1929, and so should this book.

There is no mention of any of modern saxophone technique. For example the book still refers to an archaic saxophone with right hand low Bb,B and C#keys, there are even has exercises based on this ancient key system. No modern saxophone have these keys. I have never seen a sax with these keys, although the idea is interesting.

The book covers only your basic scales, major, and melodic minor. There is no mention of pentatonics, altered scales, whole tone, harmonics, multiphonics, altissimo etc.

J. L. Niemann is a surgical Physician Assistant and former English major with no prior publications. It's ok but...

As a huge fan of Jane Eyre I was excited when I found a book telling the same story but from Rochester's point of view. Now that I read it I have to say that even though it was entertaining at times, I felt dissapointed. The author had the chance to get in this man's head and ended up with a Rochester that was insecure, needy and a drunk. I felt like telling him to quit complaining and be assertive man! This Edward Rochester is nothing like Bronte's Rochester.
Some of the language did not sound from the era and was repetetive. When he talks with his friend Arthur they sound like two teenage girls. Also, I am not a prude but some of the things Rochester and Jane did were frankly stuff from pornos and I don't think that Jane would do any of that.
Honestly I read it all because I wanted to see how it ended but then I find out that the story does not end with this book, there are two more! A trilogy! When it all could be done with just one book. Jane Eyre fans beware!

WTF! Has the author ever read Jane Eyre?

Really irritating book. I think the issue with this writer is she does not understand the time of the original book. Jane Eyre resisted Rochester because she valued herself. If she had succumbed she would have been ostracized, unemployable, and her life would have been ruined. Granted her life wasn't that great to begin with, but at least she had dignity and integrity. Also there is a strong moral sense of right and wrong, based on biblical beliefs. And that's what creates the dilema. Jane is passionate, wants to love and be loved, but she respects herself and respects God, and she does the hardest thing in her life by leaving Rochester. That's what makes Jane Eyre Great. It's a great romance, but ultimately it is a moral tale about living with integrity and doing the right thing. Look at Rochester , he succumbed again and again to his desires, and look at what a misreable wretch he is. UGH! This book is like taking the Mona Lisa and giving her a hot pink tube top. Like taking the venus de milo adding pasties and attaching a stripper pole.

The characters are named Jane Eyre and Mr Rochester but that's about all the similarities you'll find to Bronte's classic. The heroine is more of a Celine Varens than a Jane Eyre. Mr Rochester drinks too much and every day is a pity party. The book does offer more humor than the original but it veers too far off the beaten path and the writing is not strong enough to be its own stand-alone story. This book is actually part 1 of 3 and it ends on the morning of Jane & Rochester's wedding. Book 2 is called "Consummation" which leaves no doubt that the author will continue with more of the 'Skinemax' scenes that peppered the first book. Reading this could make you laugh but if I were Charlotte Bronte I'd be mad!

I was introduced to the Enneagram system of personalities a few years ago. Now that I'm a mother and I see how my baby behaves in certain ways so peculiar to him, I wondered how his personality will be growing up; then I remembered this book: the Enneagram for parents! It's an awesome, quick way to decipher your child's personality and how to effectively deal with it based on your own personality traits. Although there's no perfect formula for being a good parent, I think this book is a great guide.

Do you skip to the end of books? DO NOT SKIP TO THE END OF THIS BOOK! The Journey makes the Destination so much more fun.

So what do you do when your back is up to the wall, you're facing impossible odds and you're preparing to give everything you have trying to destroy an insane fundamental Element of your world you can't kill because it would kill thousands of people? What if it's not enough? How much are you willing to sacrifice for Love? Till it hurts, till it kills you? Knowing that would you do it anyway? The end of the epic battle between Gabriel, last hope of the Mages and Elements, and the power mad Ryker, Element of Spirit and Void. It's a worthy ending to a fantastic fantasy series. I thought I had it figured out several times only to have to go back and read parts of it again because I missed something small in an earlier chapter that became a huge deal later. The end of the book is simply amazing.

The author has a way of capturing your full attention. Her descriptions of clothing, moods and happenings are so vivid the reader feels they are a part of the story. Looking forward to her next one?
