About the Author
Dr. Ron Larson is a professor of mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University, where he has taught since 1970. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Colorado and is considered the pioneer of using multimedia to enhance the learning of mathematics, having authored over 30 software titles since 1990. Dr. Larson conducts numerous seminars and in-service workshops for math educators around the country about using computer technology as an instructional tool and motivational aid. He is the recipient of the 2014 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award for CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTAL FUNCTIONS, the 2014 Text and Academic Authors Association TEXTY Award for PRECALCULUS, the 2012 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award for CALCULUS: AN APPLIED APPROACH, and the 1996 Text and Academic Authors Association TEXTY Award for INTERACTIVE CALCULUS (a complete text on CD-ROM that was the first mainstream college textbook to be offered on the Internet). This book focuses on the idea of placing or inserting an `object/element' within an interior in order to alter and manipulate the way the space is used.

It is really helpful that the author has included a wide variety of conditions that the designer could be faced with including working with objects for exhibition or display purposes and objects for both new and existing interiors. The reader is also encouraged to consider how the existing conditions such as the form, function and choice of materials can influence the overall effect of the space.

I really enjoyed the way in which prominent and influential case studies and high-quality images are used throughout in order to discuss and explain key ideas and themes. This made the book really easy to follow and enjoyable to read.

Good Info for Starters

My husband is Kikuyu from Kenya and he says that the information provided is legit. Most of the books that I see for Gikuyu are really not translated properly because they don't use all of the vowels properly... Meaning they don't use the i with the line over it to signify A as it Ate or the u with the line over it to signify O as it Oat (sorry I am not sure what the proper name for these are called... Anyhow, this book uses the proper vowels to distinguish and it s a good starter book for anyone wishing to learn a little Kikuyu.

About the Author
Gene Foreman spent more than half a century in journalism – 41 years as a reporter and editor and nine years as a teacher in the College of Communications at Pennsylvania State University, USA. He climaxed his newsroom career with 25 years as managing editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer, a period in which Inquirer staff members won 18 Pulitzer Prizes. Retiring in 1998, he joined the Penn State faculty. As the inaugural Larry and Ellen Foster Professor, he taught courses in journalism ethics and news editing. Since retiring from full-time teaching in 2006, he has continued as a visiting professor at Penn State. He coaches writing students and directs the Foster-Foreman Conference of Distinguished Writers, which has attracted more than 40 Pulitzer winners. In 2003, Foreman received two awards for excellence in teaching in the College of Communications, the Deans' Award and the Alumni Society Award. In 2013, the Alumni Society gave him its first Douglas A. Anderson Contributor Award in recognition of his work on behalf of the College and its students. In retirement, Foreman has also served distinguished visiting professorships at the University of Arkansas and Washington and Lee University. He was president of the Associated Press Managing Editors in 1990 and board member of the American Society of Newspaper Editors in 1992-95.

It does, however, impart knowledge on PCBs that relate to reverse-engineering and teaches you how to create PCB layouts and schematic diagrams using Microsoft Visio in a technical capacity.��This full-colored illustration-rich book covers things which you'll need to take note before you begin, the necessary basic preparation work to perform, creating layout shapes prior to drafting the PCB artwork, knowing what is a good schematic diagram and the right strategies to use for the type of PCBs (analog, digital, mixed-signals). About the Author
NG KENG TIONG has worked as a Principal Engineer at Singapore Technologies (ST) Electronics Limited, a subsidiary of ST Engineering. Upon graduation from the Singapore Polytechnics, he signed up with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) as an aircraft technician and worked in the E-2C Hawkeye repair bay, servicing the aircraft's avionics using automated test systems (CAT-IIID and RADCOM) and other in-house test equipment. Upon invitation, he left the RSAF after his first contract and joined his present company, doing test program development and PCB diagnostics using Schlumberger S700 series testers. Since then, he has worked on other test platforms such as the Teradyne Spectrum™ 8800 series, the Westest-DATS/2000 test station, and some special-to-type-equipment (STTE) of similar nature. He also has experience in logic simulation using HHB Systems CADAT™ software and the CATS- 10000™ hardware modeler, as well as Teradyne's LASAR™ simulator. He has worked with engineers from companies such as Elbit and Thales, and recently completed two test benches for testing the transmitter and servo amplifier control of a naval sonar system. In the course of his work, he encountered many printed circuit boards and electronic modules without schematic diagrams or documentation. That started him on the journey of doing PCB reverse engineering, in part or total, to perform the necessary troubleshooting for repair. Over time, he has refined the skill into an art for which this book is all about.

Worth every cent and more ! A most excellent book

I purchased this book after having discussed it with the author on the EEVBlog web forum. I have been reverse engineering complex printed circuit boards for many years, and enjoy the challenge. The author of this book has similar experience and it shows in his excellent coverage of the topic. He has correctly identified the key aspects of such a task and the need for the methodical & disciplined approach in order to achieve success. This book would suit anyone who has an interest in the reverse engineering of PCB's, and even those with previous experience will likely learn from this book. I certainly did ! There is no requirement for complex or expensive tools beyond the basics normally found on an electronics workbench, but MS Visio is recommended for the documentation. Visio is not essential to success however, and should not put buyers off of this book. I know of no other book that covers this topic so well for those starting out on PCB reverse engineering. The author writes in an easy to read fashion and offers purchasers of his book free downloads of additional useful material via his web site. The quality of materials used in the production of this book are excellent and it should have a long life in the lab. All who have seen my copy of the book have been very impressed with it. Highly recommended to those embarking on PCB reverse engineering, both beginners and the experienced.

Reverse engineering PCB's is to electronic circuit boards what hacking is to computer software...something people do, but no one admits to doing it, LOL.
Mr Ng not only does it, but he lays out a very clear and systematic approach to the entire process. I am self-taught in this field, and it was a real joy to find that someone had actually written an entire book on the subject. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic.
