A very detailed and useful guide for the Nahanni

My fiance and I are planning to paddle the Nahanni in late summer/early fall, as one of our honeymoon trips. This book seems to give us all the beta we need to plan our own trip. We don't go the guided route, though we'll be talking to some of those folks too, maybe renting some gear. It's already been valuable in several important ways, not least of which is the discussion of the low water level at the time we're going in the rock garden area upstream. This will directly affect our put-in point. I imagine a bush pilot would tell us the same thing, but hearing it early on, when we're planning, has been helpful.
I'll post another review this fall after our trip, when we'll know more.

This book provides all the information that you need to plan and conduct a river trip down the Nahanni. Includes plenty of maps and detailed descriptions of each part of the river. This book should be in the backpack of every Nahanni paddler.

Having read Patterson's book several times and dreaming of getting to this river in my lifetime it will just have to do.
I have topo maps of the whole river, and I believe every book written on the area and this one you must have if you are planning a trip here or dreaming of going.
The author- Neil Hartling may be the most famous person today in regards to this river. Patterson had his Dangerous River, and Neil has his outfitting companies and his work to make sure these places stay as wild as they are...
Between this book and using Flickr and searching Nahanni River there and enjoying the pictures of those that have gone before it will just have to do..
