NOT the trade of the books.

This is not the Ironwood story from the Bill Willingham Elementals, this is a summary and character analysis of the series. If you are looking for the series, keep on looking. Going by the page count, I thought that it was both of the trades in one book...it wasn't.

What struck me wasn't just the beautiful artwork (as naughty as it was)

When I was younger, I stumbled upon a comic book series that I often described to my friends as "truly adult D&D". What struck me wasn't just the beautiful artwork (as naughty as it was), but the story behind the sex and laughs. Its plot truly rivaled the best fantasy and sword & sorcery stories, despite its soli foundation in erotic fiction.
Fast forward to my perusing a local gaming store years later and stumbling upon this sourcebook! I was amazed for various reasons (not in the least because this was based on very erotic fiction) because the contents only sought to give a more solid foundation to the intriguing and exciting world that Bill Willingham had created in the comic book series. It actually made the world legitimate while not losing an iota of the fun the comics had alongside the sex. It was as if Willingham was given a chance to validate IRONWOOD. Boy, did he ever.
Buying this fairly overpriced book as I originally did years ago when it was in print, it only led to my purchasing the THEATRIX core rules. Time passed and I sold the books, something I had always regretted since this was actually my favorite fantasy setting of all time for gaming. In buying this product a second time, I found that I loved the material and the quality of the product even more than when I had first purchased it.
I now run a percentile dice version of the diceless IRONWOOD system and my players have fallen in love with the world Willingham created over 20 years ago and I owe that all to this purchase!
